Area Manager

36 hours per week

Based in: Breda

This is where we need you

The export department is part of the operating company Perfetti van Melle Benelux B.V. which is one of 11 operating companies of the business unit Europe. In export we operate in mostly mature markets and work with exclusive distribution partners, focusing on our core brands: Mentos, Mentos Gum, Frisk, Smint and Chupa Chups.

The Export department consists of several teams that are responsible for sales activities within their own scope. The region for this position is to be decided.

This is what your fresh start as Area Manager will look like:

As Area Manager you will be responsible for full Profit & Loss in the domestic markets of your region. You will have a distributor management role with the focus on sales, with a clear link to other key processes and departments such as Marketing, SCM, Finance, QA/QC. The Area Manager reports to the Export Sales Manager Europe.

A considerable amount of travelling is required, approximately 15%.

Your core tasks in a nutshell:

  • Develop and implement the yearly strategic market/brand objectives for the market. This includes setting and managing the key performance indicators;
  • Drive the business planning, which consist of timely and accurately delivering long range plans, budget, latest estimates, forecasts and  aligning with Marketing on the marketing plans;
  • In this role you are responsible for distributor management, and manage distributors performance in line with the defined objectives. You take care of distributor contracts in close corporation with our Legal Department and export Sales Manager. Also you are day to day responsible for the operational corporation;
  • You are budget responsible, which means that you set and get to sign off on yearly budgets – internally as well with distribution partners. You actively manage the performance and adjust when needed per area, customer and brand.

The ideal recipe for our Area Manager:

We may not have to tell you that you are strong in stakeholder relationships with excellent communication skills at different levels (but we do it to be sure!). These are, in our opinion, the ideal ingredients to make this role a success:

Bachelor or master degree in a relevant field;

 

  • 5-7 years’ of relevant experience with a professional A-brand manufacture, equivalent in a multinational environment;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English;
  • Sales experience and financial understanding, category management experience is a plus;
  • Export and distributor management experience is a clear plus;
  • Cultural awareness. Ability to effectively operate in multiple, different cultural environments;
  • Strong analytical skills. Gather, analyze and interpret internal and external sales data and develop plans accordingly.
