Perfetti Van Melle - one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum with global brands that are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries worldwide - is seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our Operations team in Erlanger, KY (near the Cincinnati / NKY airport). 


The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule to improve equipment reliability while minimizing costs. This role will maintain work order traceability, manage work assignments for the maintenance team and will own the CMMS process. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop sound planning practices which include efficient utilization of labor, parts, and materials, through maintenance work
  • Support expense projects, capital projects, special projects and internal contractors, vendor services including projects that require maintenance resources
  • Coordinate all maintenance resources and materials by estimating time, material, and workforce required to effectively complete tasks scheduled or unscheduled within the projects assigned
  • Monitor work schedules to ensure project and maintenance activities are performed in a timely manner with minimum to no disruption of production schedules
  • Generate rough cost estimates and potential cost saving estimates by examining tasks to be done and determining the best way to accomplish the work, then consulting with requester, area manager, or team leaders when necessary
  • Identify and obtain necessary materials, work instructions, manuals, appropriate tools, etc. to execute the planned work order
  • Plan and schedule preventive maintenance work in coordination with operations and maintenance manager
  • Ensure the scope and cost of contracted work is clearly defined, purchase orders are approved, and equipment will be available for the work performed
  • Analyze maintenance performance metrics such as: accuracy of work plan estimates (time, labor, and materials), percent work orders awaiting scheduling, schedule compliance, overtime, contracted maintenance costs, overdue work orders, and returned work orders to improve work planning and reviews analysis and recommends corrective action with Maintenance Supervisor and Manager
  • Determine effective utilization of vendors to perform equipment repairs following manager guidelines
  • Determine equipment maintenance; screening work orders, planning how to accomplish work orders evaluating least cost options with minimum risks to product quality, consumer safety, and associate safety; and parts procurement, and determines work priority based on the business and production associated risks
  • Accountable for the following: maximizing production system availability; the cost of downtime per shift; planning and scheduling the maintenance for production assets; facilitating the efficient use of labor, contractor services and parts


  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Successful completion of a 2-year Associates Degree program in an electrical/ mechanical career field or equivalent training / experience in a technical career field
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in a maintenance or technical role utilizing CMMS 
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in the following categories: maintenance / facilities / machine shop / electrical
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of tools: Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to react quickly to changes in requirements based on understanding of priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to negotiate, persuade and engage with team
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills
