Packaging Material Buyer

OVERVIEW

We’re currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Packaging Material Buyer to join our growing team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As the Packaging material Buyer, you will lead sourcing efforts to support the North American business of Perfetti Van Melle for US and Mexico sites, inclusive of identifying suppliers, providing input on local business requirements, driving sourcing initiatives, local contract enablement and implementation, local contract administration and compliance, and management of local supplier performance. Specific responsibilities include:
•    Provide input on local business requirements and local suppliers.
•    Preparing local contract enablement and implementing new agreements locally, making decisions on contract set up and management for packaging materials to maximize PVM’s position.
•    Handling spot buys, routine commercial matters & supports day-to-day operational issue resolution.
•    Driving local sourcing implementation.
•    Performing local contract administration and driving contract compliance.
•    Monitoring local supplier performance, report out on performance to key stakeholders and make recommendations for opportunity areas.
•    Work closely with local P&T and Mfg on new item / vendor qualification / homologation as well as communication with plant sites on capacity constraints and lead times.
•    Work closely with all groups including Marketing, Finance, P&T, and Co-packers on innovation projects and bringing new products to market.
•    Work to increase profitability on raw materials, packaging, and co-packers (new designs with less packaging and automation).
•    Utilize MRP to plan and keep inventory levels at a minimum.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

•   Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field required. Masters preferred.
•   4+ years of supply chain management experience, preferably with CPG company
•    A minimum of 3 years’ purchasing experience of CPG is required
•    Fluent in Spanish preferred.
•    Understanding of Supply Chain processes and customer service strategies (planning/procurement)
•    Functional knowledge of SAP/ERP Systems
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
•    Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize daily activities and ongoing projects
•    Strong Quantitative Skills and attention to detail
•    Ability to conduct analysis, generate recommendation proposals, and present ideas to Senior –Level Management and then implement the ideas by working with other functions.
•    Knowledge of product management skills including ability to lead implementation of process improvement initiatives
•    Knowledge of contracts
•    Strong problem-solving skills
