Project Engineer

Main Purpose of the Role

For our Gum Base Business Unit, we are looking for a Project Engineer who will report to the General Manager.
The main activities are to define, implement and coordinate projects that impact the BU's factories, located in Italy, India, China and the United States. 
The figure will be based in Italy, in Lainate, in GumBase plant.
The figure will be responsible for the definition, implementation and direct guidance of the projects agreed with the Plant Managers, with a focus on new production, packaging and utilities lines. These projects will be carried out by internal operators or by external companies with particular attention to mandatory and company safety rules and to achieving the desired result in terms of time, quality of the work carried out and keeping costs under control.

What you will do

1. Be pro-active in identifying opportunities and solutions to implement to achieve new objectives at the Business Unit sites;
2. Be able to communicate and collaborate with multiple suppliers of external materials and services, as well as with cross-functional teams belonging to different areas (safety, maintenance of production plants, continuous improvement, planning, scheduling, production, quality and R&D);
3. Initiate and define projects: develop and evaluate project proposals, carry out technical feasibility studies, cost estimates, project definition, including budget, layout and develop different scenarios and alternatives in collaboration with the department;
4. Know how to read and interpret technical layouts, flow diagrams and electrical diagrams;
5. Coordinate engineering projects: Selection of equipment and suppliers, discuss local projects and divide tasks and workload, follow worldwide standards and guidelines for equipment and facilities, initiate innovations to improve efficiency and/or or the quality of production;
6. Collaborate in the preventive evaluation of the technical-professional suitability of external companies, prior to the organization of work to be carried out in the Plant;
7. Supervise compliance with the safety regulations in force in the work areas and personally manage any critical issues in mitigating immediate risk;
8. Be aware of and fulfill the obligations of the person in charge.

Who you are

• MSc Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial Engineering...);

• 4/5 years of previous experience in the technical, engineering and/or maintenance fields;

• Experience in project management;

• Knowledge of Project Management software is consider a plus;

• Excellent knowledge of English;

• 2D technical drawing (Autocad);

• Availability to travel to the BU plants.
