Introduction

As one of the leading confectionery producers worldwide, every day is a sweet day at Perfetti Van Melle. Come join us in confecting a sweeter future. We are focused on growing our business by building on and developing our talent, to be serious about sweets and to continuously refresh our way of working.

The position we are hiring for is a group role and you can work from our Breda or Amsterdam (Schiphol) office in the Netherlands.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You own the environmental footprint data of Perfetti Van Melle's global operations, with a focus on water and manufacturing waste, and a solid grasp of direct carbon emissions (scope 1 & 2). Every month our factories report their energy, water and waste. You turn that data into targets, forecasts and insights that help our plants reduce their impact. You also make sure our footprint data is ready for external disclosure under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), with our first report due in 2028 on 2027 data. You report to our Chief Sustainability Officer and work closely, via a dotted line, with the leader of Group Team Footprint in Manufacturing.

What you will do:

  • Manage data collection, target-setting and performance tracking for water, waste and scope 1 & 2 emissions across our 30+ production sites worldwide.
  • Analyse trends and forecasts, and support factories in identifying and following up reduction projects.
  • Build and maintain clear reporting and dashboards for the Sustainability Steering Committee and senior leadership.
  • Play an active role in moving our footprint reporting from Excel to our new non-financial reporting tool, currently in its pilot phase.
  • Work with our non-financial reporting team to deliver robust, audit-ready environmental data for CSRD.
  • Keep our methodologies up to date, including water footprinting, waste measurement and Science Based Targets.
  • Engage with external partners such as auditors, certification bodies, consultants and data solution providers.
  • Occasionally visit one of our factories in Europe or beyond for an audit, workshop or site visit.

OUR PERFECT CANDIDATE

  • A bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in sustainability management, environmental science, industrial engineering, food technology or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in environmental footprint measurement and reporting, in-house at a manufacturing company or with a consultancy or audit firm.
  • Subject-matter expertise in at least one of water footprint, waste management or scope 1 & 2 carbon emissions, and a good working knowledge of the others.
  • Familiarity with the GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets and CSRD/ESRS reporting requirements.
  • Strong data skills: advanced Excel, and experience with Power BI or similar tools.
  • An affinity with operations and supply chain. Industrial experience in FMCG, food, automotive, fashion or any other manufacturing sector is a clear plus.
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written. Dutch is a nice-to-have.
  • You are based in the Netherlands, or willing to relocate, and can work regularly from our Amsterdam or Breda office.
  • You are proactive, hands-on and detail-oriented, and you have the courage to challenge numbers and assumptions.

WE OFFER

  • A role with real global impact, in a small central sustainability team close to the CSO.
  • A competitive salary in line with the market.
  • An attractive pension plan.
  • Five weeks of annual leave, with the option to purchase additional vacation days.
  • Holiday allowance and travel reimbursement.
  • An informal and friendly working environment where you collaborate daily with enthusiastic colleagues around the world.
