Deputy Chief Accountant
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Contract: Fixed-term, 18–24 months, Full-time
Team: Part of the Finance Department, 1 direct report
Where we need you:
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Accountant to provide leadership and oversight of the accounting function during a long-term absence. This is a temporary replacement assignment of approximately 18–24 months, ensuring continuity, compliance, and the effective management of all accounting operations.
As our Deputy Chief Accountant, you will oversee the accounting activities of both our manufacturing and commercial entities. Working closely with the Shared Service Centre (SSC), Finance leadership, and key business stakeholders, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with Polish accounting and tax regulations, and the smooth execution of monthly and annual closing processes.

Your core responsibilities at a glance:
- Overseeing the accounting activities of both the manufacturing and commercial entities.
- Cooperate closely with the Shared Service Centre (SSC) to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of accounting transactions.
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities in collaboration with the SSC.
- Prepare and submit tax declarations, including CIT, VAT, JPK, WHT, and property tax returns.
- Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with the Polish Accounting Act (UoR).
- Prepare reports for the Central Statistical Office (GUS) and the National Bank of Poland (NBP).
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, banks, insurers, legal advisors, and tax consultants.
- Support the implementation of Group accounting and tax projects.
- Participate in developing and improving accounting procedures, internal controls, and finance processes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across departments and within the Perfetti Van Melle Group.

The ideal recipe for our new Deputy Chief Accountant:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in accounting, preferably within an international or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Polish accounting standards, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Experience preparing statutory financial statements and tax declarations.
- Experience working with Shared Service Centres (SSC) is considered an advantage.
- Very good knowledge of SAP.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Fluent Polish, both written and spoken.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management abilities.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and professional ethics.
- Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across functions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
